Obituary for John Oberg
John T. Oberg, 82, of Elkhart, died Tuesday March 28, 2017. John was born in Twin Bridges, Montana on April 28, 1934 to Chester & Beatrice (Jasperson) Oberg. He served in the US Marine Corps. for 16 years and was stationed throughout the US as well as in Vietnam & Japan. He later retired from Bull Moose Industries after more than 30 years with the company. John was a member of the American Legion and the DAV; his hobbies included model trains & cooking and he enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. John was preceded in death by his parents and in 2016 by his wife, Sharon M. (Gaugler) Oberg. He is survived by his daughters, Tina (Danny) Qualls of Osceola and Tracy (Lance) Stutzman of Granger; grandchildren, Karri, Jackie & Cole Qualls, all of Osceola and Nick Stutzman of Bremen; great-grandchildren, Lauren & Brady Stutzman; brothers, Bob (Pat) Oberg and Chet (Donna) Oberg, both in Texas. Graveside services with military honors will be at 11:00 Saturday April 1, 2017 in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Arrangements through Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
